Why should we learn English? Good question. Some of us do have a confusion why so many people spend so much effort to learn English, and also it’s not an easy task. In my opinion, we do need to learn English, and master it.

It is said that 60% of the radio broad cast and 70% of the mail uses English. On air and oceans, they ask for help by English. Most international conferences communicate by English. If you can speak English, it’ll be much easier for you to understand others, make yourself understood and, of course, make friends with those who know English.

Besides its wide use, we can get to know many new things of other countries. Language represents the best culture of a nation, you know the language, you can know their history, their geography, their customs, and what’s more, their thinking way. Our achievement is only limits by our thinking way. If we can consider something in other way, things will be much easier.

Ok, some of you will say that with the rapid development of the technology, machines have stepped into our daily life gradually, we can get the translation by machine quickly, learning so hard is just ask for trouble. Is it so? I don’t appreciate it at all. Language will be much beautiful when it is spoken out. For it is full of our feelings. We can enjoy it in the process. And how can you get the enjoyment by machines. And machine can not do a good job on the cultural backgrounds and phrases.

They say learning a foreign language is a good way to raise you IQ. How can you gain the improvement through machines?

Since English has already been used as one of the most important brides of communication and machines cannot help us communicate completely, why do you give up learning English? So enjoy your learning, it can be fun. And some day you will find you have harvested a lot from your learning process.
